Bio

Ho Sheung Yan Nicolas (b. 1994) was born and raised in Hong Kong. He graduated with a degree in Geography from Hong Kong Baptist University and later pursued studying printmaking at Sokei Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Tokyo, Japan.

Nicolas’s main practices in printmaking include screen printing and water-based woodblock printing (Mokuhanga).

‘My creations take inspiration from scenes observed in everyday life, capturing the stills of people and their surroundings. I want to create works with a soft touch that embodies a gentle energy, bringing the audience and myself to a quiet place where we can feel at ease.’

Nicolas also works with various collaborators to bring his illustrations to life in different ways. Ranging from designing graphics for a local business to contributing artwork to a community project.

‘I find immense joy in the collaborative process. Each new collaboration presents a unique opportunity to blend my artistic style with the vision of others, resulting in creations that resonate with diverse audiences.’
